Unorthodox Dad
I recently returned to the Bay Area (San Rafael to be specific) from New York. My wife, Tara, is an East Coaster, through-and-through, so this is her first taste of the California lifestyle. We have a daughter, Theory, and another on the way.
I used to described Tara and I as “a typical city couple”. Now I guess we are “typical East Coast transplants?”
This blog has evolved as our family has changed. At launch, it primarily focused on birth and early childhood. As Theory has grown so has the narrative.
A doula by profession, Tara has a company called Power of Birth. She has attended hundreds of births so the territory is not unfamiliar to her. I think it gave me a better sense of what to expect for the birth, having read many of her birth-related books and seen many films. Needless to say, it is a different experience when you are going through it yourself. So it has been an adventure for both of us as has been being new parents.
I work as a brand strategist and I am trained as an anthropologist with a specialization in evolutionary psychology. You can check out my non-fathering related site at arinave.com.

Hi! Tara you are most welcome of California. I’m hearing about your company power of birth. I truly honored to you for your great activity. Thanks
